Install TigerPrint
This article details how to install the TigerPrint and TigerPrint Color queues on both University provided and personal computers running. More information about how to use a PaperCut managed copier can be found here. The TigerPrint queues are for Faculty and Staff.
Before printing to a PaperCut Managed device, your computer must be connected to a Protected Network. If you are not on a managed device, you will need to use the University VPN to print to the copier.
To determine your computer’s network status and access level, visit networkcheck.princeton.edu. Refer to Article KB0014050 - Network Checker for an explanation of the color-coded status messages displayed on the network check page.
Windows:
University Managed PCs On your keyboard, press the Windows key + R to open the Run window. Type \\ss226w.princeton.edu and select OK. If prompted, enter your Princeton network credentials and allow the app to make changes. Double-click the TigerPrint printer to install.

MacOS:
This article details how to install the TigerPrint and TigerPrint Color queues on both University provided and personal computers running MacOS. University Managed Macs, Open the Princeton IT Self-Service app located in the Applications folder. Search or browse to the TigerPrint Combined Install app and select Install.

Linux:
- If you haven't done so already, install the Common Unix Printing System (CUPS)
- Navigate to the CUPS configuration page in your browser. Generally, it will be found at http://localhost:631
- Click on the Administration tab at the top
- Under Printers, click on the Add printer button
- When prompted, sign in with your local computer username and password
- In the Add Printer menu, under Other Network Printers, select LPD/LPR Host or Printer and click Continue
- In Conneciton, type the following: lpd://[your_netid]@ss226w.princeton.edu/TigerPrint, where you should replace [your_netid] with your actual Princeton netid, all lowercase
- For color printing, replace TigerPrint in step 7 with TigerPrintColor
- Press Continue
- Fill in the appropriate values for each of the following fields, as in the examples below:
- Name: TigerPrint or TigerPrintColor
- Description: TigerPrint or TigerPrintColor queue
- Location (optional): N/A
- Make sure Share this printer is unchecked, and then click Continue
- Under Make, select Generic and click Continue
- Under Model, select Generic PostScript Printer (en) and click Add Printer
- To enable double-sided printing:
- Click on the Options Installed tab and set the radio button for Duplexer to Installed.
- Then click back General tab and under 2-sided printing, set the default value to Long-Edge (Portrait)
Make sure that the file /etc/cups/client.conf
does not contain the line ServerName ldprint.cs.princeton.edu
. If this line is present, remove it and restart the CUPS service or reboot your system.
How to release a print job:
- Tap your Princeton ID card on the attached card reader
- Select Print Release
- Select the jobs you wish to release and select Print
How to Identify a TigerPrint Capable Copier:
TigerPrint and TigerPrintColor capable copiers will be labeled CR10001 through CR10500.
Email to Print:
Send your document as an email attachment to:
- tigerprint@princeton.edu (for B/W) (Faculty/Staff)
- tigerprintcolor@princeton.edu (for Color) (Faculty/Staff)
Note: The email must originate from a University email account and the attachment must be a PDF document.
FAQ
- Why does my color print job come out as a blank page? When printing a color job to the B/W printer queue the job will come out blank. Please send color print jobs to the color print queue.
