The Computer Science Department designates rooms Friend Center 010 (FC 010) and Computer Science 003 (CS 003) for office hours. Graduate student Assistants in Instruction (AI) and Undergraduate Course Assistants (UCAs) of COS courses may book these rooms for office hours.
- Graduate student Assistants in Instruction (AI) have priority when booking space.
- COS courses have priority. Cross-listed courses must work with the home department to locate office hour space. (For example, an ECE/COS cross-listed course must work with ECE to find office hour space).
Follow this process to reserve office hour space:
- Access the University’s EMS room scheduling system
- Click on “My Home”, sign in, and “Book Now” under “Campus Space Request”
- Enter the date & time of your booking. You can schedule recurring events.
- Search for Friend Center 010 and/or Computer Science 003. The rooms will look like this in the system:
- If neither room appears, it means they are booked.
- You can search for alternate spaces to hold office hours in the Computer Science building including rooms 233, 201, 301, 302, 401, and 402.
- IMPORTANT: In the “event name” section of the form, title your event “COS [Insert Course #] Office Hours – [Insert your role: Grad AI or UCA]”.
- Submit your event request. A staff member will send you a reservation confirmation.

Capacity
- Friend Center 010 can accommodate 4 concurrent office hours slots. The room layout is a main area with ~20 seats and three small side rooms that can each hold 5 – 8 students.
- If you anticipate a flow of 5 – 10 students throughout your office hour slot, you should select 010A, 010B or 010C. You will be sharing the space with other courses.
- If you anticipate 30 or more students in attendance at your office hour slot, you should:
- Book Friend Center 010 (ALL)
- Send an email to cs-room-reservations@lists.cs.princeton.edu explaining why you need the entire space for your course
- Note – the EMS system states the room capacity of 010 (ALL), 010A, 010B and 010C is “1”. Please disregard. 4 office hours can fit simultaneously with 5 – 10 students/course.
- Computer Science 003 can accommodate 2 concurrent office hours slots with 5 – 10 students/course.
