Power Mailing List

As a service to people in the department with equipment on battery backup, we have created a read-only mailing list called "power" for notifications of actual (as opposed to planned) power events in the CS Building. These include power failure and power restoration as well as On-/Off-Battery events for the main UPS in room 218, the UPS in 002 that powers some 002 equipment, and the Friend Center UPS that powers FC-010 as well as CS 002.

Helpful Mailing Lists

For questions that are outside of the scope of the department computing infrastructure, you might see if there is an appropriate department mailing list where you can post your question (e.g., the linux-users mailing list for a Linux-related question). The Joining a Mailing List page has more information. Of course, questions posted to such mailing lists will not generally be answered by members of CS Staff but by members of the particular mailing list.
