November 14, 2006 -- Volume 3 -- Number 4 --------------------------------------------- * New CS Guide Today, we rolled out a new Guide to CS Computing, aka the "CS Guide" at https://csguide.cs.princeton.edu/ The new CS Guide has several new sections, including: + Updated Cluster Documentation https://csguide.cs.princeton.edu/resources/clusters + Moodle Documentation https://csguide.cs.princeton.edu/academic/moodle Additionally, users (after logging in to the CS Guide) can provide comments, feedback, and tips on each of the content pages. Periodically, we will fold the user-supplied content back into the main documentation. As you explore the guide, please report broken links or egregious errors to csstaff@cs.princeton.edu Finally, for the next month or two, the individual pages of the old CS Guide will remain accessible at their original locations. The only exception is the main index page which has moved to https://csguide.cs.princeton.edu/csguide-old.php This will allow users time to re-point any deep links to the old pages to the new guide. Because we have reorganized the material, there is not a 1-to-1 correspondence between the old pages and the new. * Status Line: 258-STATus As you may have noticed in the downtime messages a reference to our Status Line (258-STATus / 258-7828). This is a "listen only" phone line where we record messages about downtimes and other major outages. This should be especially useful to the faculty DSL users who are unable to check the status page when our systems are down. * Database Upgrade Today, we upgraded our public database server to MySQL v5.0.27. * Gigabit Link to OIT Today, we completed the deployment of our gateway router. As a result, we now have a 1 Gbit/s link to OIT (up from 100 Mbit/s).
