This patching will apply quarterly critical patches for the exadata hardware and software. This is applied in a rolling fashion one server node at a time . As all components of the machine are fully redundant there should be no outage during this patching process. The database software is applied to cloned software libraries and actual database patching will be done in conjunction with scheduled Linux patching. Update backup client software

Thu, 06/14/2018 - 6:00am
Planned OutageCrashplanUpdate backup client softwareCHG00331092018-06-14 06:00:00 AM2018-06-19 05:00:00 PM5 Days 11 Hours2018-05-01 11:12:37 PM2018-06-14 06:00:06 AM

On Thursday June 14 beginning at 06:00 am, all Crashplan 4.8 backup clients will be upgraded to version 6.5.2 (also now known as the Code42 app).   During the upgrade process the old client will be uninstalled and the new Code42 app (version 6.5.2) will be installed.  The new 6.5.2 app has a new GUI.  Please refer to KB KB0011099 https://princeton.service-now.com/snap?id=kb_article&sys_id=bdd4a436dbdd5780146fd206ca96196a for more information on GUI changes from 4.8.3 to 6.5.2.    The upgrade does not affect the Crashplan backup process.  All devices will continue to backup.

Some older OS machines will not upgrade to 6.5.2.  Code42 6.5.2 requires  these OS':

  • Windows 7, 8.1, or 10
  • MacOS 10.11, 10.12, or 10.13
  • Linux:  Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.1, 7.2, 7.3 OR Ubuntu 14.04 (64-bit) or higher

Any OS's older than above will keep the Crashplan at its current installed client version (4.8.x).  Note that as of May 31, 2018, Code42 will no longer support Crashplan 4.8.x or older backup apps.  This means that these older OS's should be migrated to a newer, supported OS as soon as possible (as noted above).  Older 4.8.x clients will still continue to backup to Crashplan, but due to fact they are no longer supported by the vendor, OIT will not be able to support them if there is a problem.
